We have just started the year 2019 and our hearts are full of joy and gratitude for all the graces that the Lord has poured out upon us throughout all of 2018. We can truly say with the psalmist, “The Lord has done great things for us and we are glad.” The Lord indeed has shown his loving and providential hand with us throughout the year, both in the joyful and sorrowful circumstances, and He has made us see that everything that has happened in this year has been for the good of each one of us and for the good of the Home of the Mother. One of these joyful events that we celebrated this year was the anniversary of Fr. Felix´s priestly ordination. Fr. Felix, Superior General of the Servant Brothers of the Home of the Mother, was ordained on December 11th, 1993 and on December 11th, 2018 he celebrated his 25th anniversary, 25 years of fidelity and 25 years of being an “alter Christus”.

Fr. Felix was the first Servant Brother of the Home of the Mother to be ordained a priest and thanks to his fidelity the Servant Brothers have grown and today there are more than 30 Brothers offering their lives in union with Christ for the salvation of souls. To celebrate this joyful event we had a weekend get-together in Loeches from December 14th-16th with all those who wanted to celebrate this important moment with Fr. Felix. On Friday, December 14th, Fr. Felix celebrated mass in the chapel of St. Anthony in Toledo. This chapel is very small in size but the first members of the Home of the Mother have a great affection for this place because it was where many of them started taking their first steps in the spiritual life. Every morning before school started, Fr. Rafael celebrated mass for them in that chapel and he taught them many things about the faith, prayer life and instilled in them a strong love for the Eucharist. In this chapel Fr Felix grew in love for his Mother, our Blessed Mother and learned to treat her with the trust of a child.

At lunch Fr. Felix received the gift of a new, handmade monstrance which incorporates his three loves: Our Lady, the Eucharist and the Cross. We couldn´t help but break in the new Monstrance and we decided to have a Holy Hour. What better way to celebrate than by spending this time with the Lord.

Later, we had time to see photos and videos which allowed us to see all the good that God is able to do through his poor instruments. We also gave thanks to our Lady by praying the Rosary with songs and afterwards we ate dinner. The next morning we had to say goodbye, but our hearts were so full of joy upon seeing the fruits of this great gift that God has bestowed upon us in giving us his priests, especially priests that are truly seeking to be holy. We must pray for our priests, so that they truly may be men of God that show the world the path to heaven with both their words and their lives.
