This past Monday, July 2, the Home of the Mother was filled with joy to celebrate the Solemnity of Blessed Mary, Ever Virgin and the Servant Brothers' and Sisters' profession of temporal vows for the fifth time in its history.
The evening of the previous day, we gathered in the Bernardines' Church at Alcala de Henares to celebrate the Solemnity's Vigil, presided by Fr. Felix Lopez, Superior General of the Servant Brothers of the Home of the Mother.
The Solemnity's celebration took place in the same Church on July 2nd in the afternoon. The Bishop, Juan Antonio Reig Pla, presided the Mass in which 3 Servant Brothers and 7 Servant Sisters took their first vows for one year, and thirteen Servant Sisters renewed their vows for 1 or 3 years. The Mass and the Vigil were broadcasted online so that the members of the Home of the Mother and the brothers' and sisters' families that could not attend could follow the ceremony. Let us pray for the Servant Brothers and Sisters so that they may be faithful to the vocation that the Lord and Our Blessed Mother has called them to!
In his homily, the Bishop spoke to us forcefully and clearly about virginity and consecration, gifts from God and a witness in this world in need of it. We cannot live it without God's help. What's most important in the Church is God's doing, not ours.
After Mass, everyone went to the Monastery of the Immaculate Conception at Loeches for dinner and a celebration. We ended the day gathering together on the patio where we shared the impressions and experiences of the day. Our Blessed Mother was very present, so it was joy filled day. Thanks be to God for giving us such a good and beautiful Mother to lead us unto Him!
